A New School! South Norwalk Elementary School Celebrates Ribbon Cutting

A group of people, including several men in suits, are gathered together to cut a ribbon, marking the opening or completion of a new building or facility, with a brick building and windows visible in the background.

On Sept. 15, we proudly celebrated the official ribbon cutting of our brand-new school building. We look forward to sharing this space not only with our students staff but our families, neighbors and community.

We were honored to be joined by a number of distinguished guests, including:

  • Governor Ned Lamont
  • Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker (Connecticut Department of Education)
  • Commissioner Michelle Gilman (Department of Administrative Services)
  • Senator Bob Duff and State Rep. Dominique Johnson
  • Common Council featuring President Barbara Smyth and District B Representative Darlene Young
  • Board of Education featuring Vice Chair Sheri McCready-Pritchett

It was a full-circle moment for Principal Randall Austin, who grew up in the neighborhood and attended CMS, and now is leading South Norwalk Elementary with Assistant Principal Francheska Rodriguez. Guests were welcomed by five amazing SoNo Shark ambassadors and treated to a beautiful performance by the 2nd Grade Choir.
